Welcome

August 2020 update

Our allotment site is managed by St Helens Council. You can apply for an allotment by the following methods:

By phone: St Helens Council Contact Centre - 01744 676789

By email: contactcentre@sthelens.gov.uk

How much is the allotment rent?

Firstly there are Additional Fees
  • There will be a one-off charge of £22.00 for you to enter into a tenancy agreement with the council.
  •  The site keys require a £20 refundable deposit to be paid to the council. (Refundable at the end of your tenancy on the production of a receipt.)
  • Membership to the allotment association who provide certain facilities onsite along with insurance, social events and affiliation to the National Society of Allotment & Leisure Gardeners costs £10 per year and is paid directly to the allotment association.
  • As of 1 April 2020, the rent for a plot is £0.26 per square metre.
  • Plots vary in size; an average plot works out between £30 and £65
  • You will be entitled to a 50% concession if you are over 60 or in receipt of certain benefits.
At the moment there is a waiting list but don't be put off as there are a whole host of reasons why people vacate plots and not all sites have as many on the waiting list.

Hope the above information helps,
Regards,
Paul Cooper (Chairman of Walkers Lane Allotment Association)
